Donate a toy to a child in need. The Pyjama Foundation provides children in foster care the opportunity to change the direction of their lives through learning, life skills and confidence.
Through a learning based mentoring program titled, “Love of Learning”, volunteers called ‘Pyjama Angels’ are recruited, screened, trained and then matched with a child in care and spend time with them once a week focusing on learning-based activities. Pyjama Angels read books aloud, play educational games and help with homework, to ensure these children are given the same opportunities as their peers. Most importantly, the volunteers give foster children a chance to reach their life potential, despite a fragile start.
Currently there are 46,000 children in foster care throughout Australia. Research shows children in care are not only subject to a background of trauma and neglect, but are also being left behind by their peers academically. By improving the learning skills of children in care, The Pyjama Foundation is making a positive, life-long impact. Moreover, these children aren’t granted the same luxuries as we experience and often Christmas is an occasion that they miss out on.
Your toy donation will go directly to a young boy or girl in foster care to make their Christmas a little brighter and we cannot thank you enough for putting a beautiful smile on their face.
